Why Atheism is Not a Religion

Many people put forth the argument that atheism should be treated as religion because according to them any thing which is belief based should be treated as religion. Atheism is also belief based, the belief for them is that God doesn’t exist and hence any belief based system can be termed as religion.

Atheism

Atheism is not a religion because it rejects every single aspect of the definition of religion. Atheism means to be rational, open minded, not be bound by any supernatural and atheist believe that that there is no God….if you term it as religion, it marks Atheism as a close box set of “beliefs”. If religion is belief in God then Atheism cannot be religion as there is no belief…..but if religion is way of living life then atheism is also religion as it has a particular way of living life but not adhering to the norms of religion which we all know that religion is seldom a way of living life.

Atheism is the natural order of mankind. When a man is born he is born without any belief, a free person. As he grows the parents, family surroundings and brought up along with circumstances brand him as a theist. Majority of the population in the world are theists by default of reasoning.

While many theists say that explaining God to an atheist is like explaining the meaning of colors to a born-blind person and atheist in turn have their own way of making fun of theists so in summary it can be said that fight between theist and atheist will go on as long as this world is into existence.

Why I know That There is a God and That He Loves Me

    A Personal Testimony.

Years ago doubt was creeping into my head about the Lord and then a miracle happened.

Three years ago 100 members of my church were enroute to a bible camp in the Blueridge Mountains of Virginia. They were traveling in a chartered bus. As they sang hymns, Satan was up to his old tricks. You see, the bus driver was an atheist alcoholic socialist and that day he was filling his coffee mug with vodka. As the bus wound up through the switchbacks, the driver got progressively drunker. Then it happened. It was that day that changed this poor sinner’s life forever. Entering a particularly tight switchback, the besotted driver finally lost control of the bus and it plummeted 1500 feet down into a ravine where it exploded into a fireball incinerating the flock. The only survivor that day was a young boy who was thrown from the bus by his father seconds before it hit the bottom.

This young boy suffered severe brain damage from hitting a rock head first and will have to wear a football helmet and drool cup for the remainder of his life. But his survival proved to me that miracles do happen because God does exist and loves me. The Lord used that accident to bring me back to his flock.

    Hallelujah!

Praise Jesus! Just open your eyes to his miracles and you will see them everywhere.

I’m always very curious about peoples experiences and their views about religion etc etc..

I don’t want you to think I’m bashing you or questioning you in any way, but I’m just one of those folks that LOVES to pick peoples brains! : )

I think it’s wonderful that you were “brought back to his flock” But I’m curious as to how you looked at that situation that made you see it as a miracle? What was the miracle to you?

Secondly… Did you know the driver was an alcoholic or were you guessing? And what did the socialism part have to do with it?

    I am convinced…

I know most of the Atheists will just ignore this but you not be blind… you have to take the fact that the Child survived into consideration..

@ruchi hey, you an Atheist? good to have People of the rare breed among my Circle.

Atheism ofcourse can not be termed as a Religion but I guess because Religion is a part of the one’s identity in general terms, so its just a term used to tell which of the many Religion one belongs to…

Someone asks you what’s your religion..

what do you say??? I am an Atheist or that you try to explain you disapprove of all Religions in your own words… The meaning is the same in both case…

rather a social compulsion to have a term/name for your faith…

I am a part time atheist. :-) Just joking. I believe in a supreme thing called god but i dont believe in religion because for me religion has become a business model which has been molded by man over the years to CONTROL the mass.
