Thus, to improve your online persona, here are few tips:
1. Be safe while making profile: There are always two sides of coin, it same with online persona. Online persona is beneficial in many ways but there are people who would love to misuse your profile. Thus while making your profile, try to hide your very personal information. Try to have a public profile for marketing purpose, try to remove any contents like credit card number or confidential online accounts, which can create problems for you in future.
2. Buy your domain name: If possible, buy your own domain name which matches your name. The domain name represents you, and thus helps to brand your online persona automatically.
3. What your Google profile says about you: Most employers use Google search to find more about your online persona, your impression is based upon what results they get from your Google profile. It’s really important for you to find out what is being said about you and which pages are indexed? The top results about your name or same name as yours might have negative online profile. You should be prepared for such conditions in advance.
4. Mind your content: Never add any content on your online profile which can ruin your image. You should always post contents which is beneficial for you to get good opportunities. It should be professional with little bit of social touch, you should keep your identity safe in eyes of employers and professional friends; otherwise you might lose many opportunities.

That True, Having a unique online identity name is really a good idea.
Very nice tips Ruchi! Even i want to add few more points: Along with Google profile, make your Linkedin profile too, Never spam any social networking site by adding more and more friends and giving more and more link, it will be hazardous, also I like your idea of grabbing domain name of own name. Extensions like .com or .info is perfect extension. I remember some great persons like Matt Mulenweg and Om Malik have their personal blogs of domain name http://Ma.tt and http://Omis.me so this kind of short, hacked and attractive domain name may helpful in make your own online identity.
Thanks Himanshu for adding good points, even I was not aware of Matt and Om Malik.
Always love info you share here Ruchi! Building a good online persona is always a good tactic for online business. If I can add a little more information here, I would suggest using usernamecheck.com to check your name on various popular sites. Then you should register accounts on all of them to keep your username because it’s now your brand and I’m sure that you don’t wanna any s*cker use your name to spam or publish information that can ruin your brand.
