I think, notifications by email are ON by default! We need to start the notification on cell-phone by changing the settings.

They are ON but sometimes we change the setting because FB sends lots of Mails and it seems like a junk. Thus, You can change the settings according to your needs.

Hey i have a problem with notifications..Earlier i used to get the notifications on facebook when i login with red mark but nowadays i do not get them…i realised that all of them end up in my gmail…i did try to uncheck the boxes which actly lets all the notifications to the gmail directly but still no luck…can nybody help me please?
