How to Create a Custom Alert using Google Analytics Intelligence

Before starting let see what is Google Analytics Intelligence Engine which is in its Beta phase, it is an algorithmic driven intelligence added to Google Analytics which will provide alerts for any kind of significant changes in the data patterns on daily,weekly and monthly basis. You can also create custom alerts which suits your needs.

Prerequisite: You will require Google Analytics  account.

Here are simple steps to follow:

1. Login to your Google Analytics Account.

2. Select Intelligence as shown.

3. Click on Create Alert as shown below:

4. Enter the following details as shown:

Alert Name: Name of the alert for your convenience.

Period: You can specify one of the three values that is Day , Week and Month, it is use to specify when will that alert be triggered.

Click on this option if you want the Email to be triggered.

Alert Condition: You can specify the alert condition along with when the the alert would be triggered.

Example: There are various options to choose from, here is an example shown which I created for my site that is whenever Google send more than 1000 visitors per day to my site an email will be sent to me as show below.

5. After you fill in all the details click on “Create Alert”. You alert would be created.

There are various options to create an alert ,you can give it a try by selecting different combination. Apart from that there are default templates also available as shown below, you can select any one of them by clicking Copy and Create your own alert.

    Is this useful for newbie bloggers? Since most of the time my stats are fluctuating so I don’t think there is real reason for me to track sudden changes.

      This is good for newbie as well as experience blogger since you can set some kind of a goal , for example if your regular visitors through search engine is 1000, and you have set a goal of 2000 in custom alert , you need not to check your analytic account daily, you can create a customer alert set the goal and wait for the mail to arrive :)

  9. Thanks for the tips.. I suggest you to use bigger images so that they will be clearly visible..
