How backlinks can affect your website ranking?
Earlier I used to wonder how websites gets higher position and ranking on search engines, and then I thought of following things like:
- Is that because of page titles of their websites?
- Is it because of their design tweak?
- Is it might be because of keywords they use in their websites?
After analyzing and searching on internet I go lot of information on how SEO strategy works and what I found that backlinks are one of the best ways to get higher rank, especially on Google. Backlinks in very simple words is the incoming links to your website.
But having quality backlinks is not a child’s play, you must consider following points, which can help you out in getting good rank in Google.
- Most important point to remember is that quality matters not quantity. If you manage to 10 bakclinks from website having a page ranking of 6 that is PR6 and it is more than enough than having 100 backlinks from website having page rank of PR 2 or PR1.Thus, there is no defined number of backlinks, to get higher rank for your website. Your inbound link (backlink) should not come from a “link farm” because it can be considered as spamming or fraudulent and you can be penalizing by the search engine.
- If your website is linked with high page rank website, even on its low rank page, then also you will get a higher ranking on Google. Page rank of website matters not a single page alone.
- You should be aware of link popularity. Your link popularity is measured by the number of inbound links to your website. As, I mentioned earlier, that quality links helps your website to get popularity. There might be many fraud websites or gambler website which might add your website link, but you should never link back to such website.
- Try to link a website which complements your website in contents. For e.g.: If I am having technical content on my website, there would be no use to have link of any website which have medical content until and unless the technology is for some kind of a medical stuff. If you link your website to the website which complements your content you have more chances of getting higher page rank.
- Most important task is to know the right way of how to get the backlinks. You can use either of two ways:
- Conventional way: In this way, you can email hundreds of people every day, requesting them to link to your website. From hundred, you will surely receive few response. It is time consuming and many times you even won’t get satisfactory results.
- Automatic way: Many software and programs are available on internet, which will assure you to get high ranked links but personally I feel that many of them are not good enough to give a try also. There are some networks for link exchange like The My Way link, which can provide you good links once you are registered. This can help you to increase your website’s page rank.
These tricks works, the only thing you have to do is to have patience because link building takes time.

Agree with you. 3 backlinks from PR 4 and above is important than 10 backlinks from PR1 and below. Quality always comes first.
Backlinks are one of the most important parameter for setting PR because that way google understand the importance of the web page. Backlinks are PR 2 and 3 is also important and then you should have higher PR backlinks as well. SEO is a journey rather than destination, so keep blogging, keep building links. i had many free blogger blogs having page ranks
i am writting posts on them as a guest post with my link..those blogs are giving me huge baclinks.i got pr 1 to my crazy blogger by doing this.

Nice list. Most bloggers don’t really understand #4, they always think simple link-exchange with other blogs will bring them good rankings. Linking between same niche/topic has a greater effect on Google SERP.
That’s true, If blogger would link for just sake to link it will never give them good results and than they feel low because all their hard work gets waste.

I think you said it all and you are right. It also depends on the blogger aim. What is the aim of the blogger while blogging?
I forgot to add that for some blogger website ranking is super important while for others it has no value.
I think, all blogger start blog for different reason but soon they start thinking about high rank in search engines.
Nothing can take the place of “Natural Link Building” that as the name suggests takes time but is way too effective than any other automated counterpart. “WHO” is linking to you is more important than “HOW MANY” are linking to you, in my opinion.
