4 Excel Tips for Beginners

1. Change the Function of the Enter Key:
Normally, when you press the Enter key, Excel goes to the next cell down. The Enter key can be made to move to in
any direction (up, down, left, and right) or keep it unchecked if you want to be in the same cell after hitting Enter key.
To change the options follow the steps:
a. Go to Tools
b. Select Options.
c. Select the Edit tab.
d. There are four values from which you can select, right, left, up and down. Change the value in the dropdown for Move selection after Enter direction setting or uncheck the box to remain in the same cell.
2.Navigating around in excel sheet:
You do not have to use the mouse to navigate to a specific cell. You can use the arrow keys (left, up, down, right), and PgUp and PgDn keys.
Enter key: It will take you down one cell.
Tab key: It will move you to the next cell to the right.
Ctrl + Home key: It will move you to the first cell.
Ctrl + End key: It will move you to the last cell.
3. Entering a formula or function:
Formula and functions begin with a equal sign. Entering equal and then writing the formula will help you in performing operation on the cells.
4. Inserting a row and column: To insert a row or column in the sheet, click on the letter (shown on the left that is number, and on the top it would be alphabet) it would be for inserting a column, or number for inserting a row. After clicking on the number or letter, click the right mouse button and select Insert from the menu option.
